You've found my resume!

My Stats :

Janae Ekstein
Graphic Artist
Lincoln, NE
(originally from Loma, NE)

My Education :

I received my bachelor's degree in Multimedia from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 2005, with a minor in Visual Communication and Design.

My Story:

Blessed with a last name that rhymes with design, I'm keeping busy outside of the office by doing some freelance work via EksteinDesign. In addition, I'm currently working full-time as a graphic designer for Olsson Associates.

My career really began in high school when I started learning various programming languages and html, and began working on my high school's web site. That, combined with my diverse interests in speech and art led me to the Multimedia program at UNK. (Doctors call this ADD)

My background in Multimedia makes me more diverse than your average graphic designer. I've created my own animated cartoons, studied everything from PASCAL to C++, worked with both video and web design, and I'm the only graphic designer I know who has also worked as an English tutor. My strong interest in copyright law and the first amendment led me to become a card-carrying member of the ACLU. Whatever it may be, I can write it, design it and put it all together in one creative package that you and I can both be proud of.

I've worked professionally for a pet supply catalog company as well as a national engineering firm, giving me a unique advantage: experience in two very different industries.

My Self:

I laugh at everything.

I like the outdoors: swimming, softball, bbqs and bonfires, but don't be surprised to find me indoors watching a Forensic Files marathon.

I love the smell of the rain, the original nintendo, snowball fights, pina coladas, small town bars, art museums, karaoke and road trips. I enjoy rock concerts, Husker football, an ice cold beer, the crackling sound that vinyl records make, Kathy Griffin comedy, drinking games and discovering new places.

I get excited when I find a local cafe, bar or restaraunt I've never been to. I'll try just about anything once as long as it doesn't disagree with my fear of heights, and sometimes even then.

I work full time as a graphic artist, making the world more attractive one mouse stroke at a time (haha).

I live in the craziest apartment complex on earth with my fiance, Topher. We have a loveable yet often strange cat named Reilly who keeps us on our toes. We're trying to save money for our wedding, so ramen noodles have once again become a staple food for the first time since college.

I like popsicles and black jelly beans. Rock N Roll and vanilla ice cream. Comedians. Reading, writing, but not arithmatic. Black and green olives. Holidays. Diet Mountain Dew. Softball. I can and will quote every line from the movies Empire Records, A League of Their Own and the Sandlot.

I hate ranch dressing.

My People:

I have awesome parents, and I think anyone who has ever met Joe & Andrea Ekstein would agree with me!

I am also very thankful to have the love and support of my fiance, Topher Newman.

In addition, thank you to all of my wonderful friends who have taken the time to check out this web site, and to those who have utilized my services. Thank you!
