In the 1980's, little Janae Ekstein dreamed of becoming Jem from Jem & The Holograms. In high school, when rock star dreams seemed slightly unrealistic (mostly because Jem is a cartoon), Janae began studying html and in 2001, set out to conquer the Multi-Media program at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. For four years, she lived mostly off of ramen noodles, cheap beer, and a familiar adrenaline rush produced by late nights in the computer lab.

In 2005, she earned her bachelor's degree in Multi-Media with a minor in Visual Communication & Design, and Ekstein Design was born after Janae awoke to a brilliant epiphany and said, "Hey, my last name rhymes with design." Ekstein Design has built a reputable portfolio by providing top notch graphic design & quality service for small to large businesses throughout the United States. In 2009, the Ekstein Design web site went up, opening the doors to a world of opportunity.

Janae has a keen awareness of copyright & trademark law, a strong background in video and animation, and experience in web coding and design. She also has a passion for the English language, and even worked as an English tutor at UNK, giving her a diverse set of skills that set her apart from other graphic designers. In addition to her work with Ekstein Design, Janae works full time as a graphic designer for an engineering firm. Fueled by consistent blend of coffee, dark beers and music booming through her headphones, Janae is pushing full steam ahead with no plans to stop. In 2011 Janae married her music-loving soul mate, Topher Newman, who still believes Janae could become a rock star. Though she changed her last name to Newman, Ekstein Design will remain the same.
